Reading makes my heart happy!
Hello Everyone,

My name is Crystal Funkhouser.  I am thrilled to be a part of the ASU Prep team! I am originally from central Illinois, but Arizona State University brought me to the valley 18 years ago.  I am a 3rd generation Sun Devil, having earned both my Undergraduate Degree in Education with a content emphasis in Math and Science and my Masters in Curriculum and Design specializing in Gifted Education.  In fact, I studied right here on the Polytechnic Campus for both degrees and even took a few classes in our school building before it became ASU Prep!

Before coming to ASU Prep, I had taught for 13 years in Gilbert Public Schools.  During that time, I taught 4th grade, 6th grade and 8th grade Science.  I have loved each grade level, and am so excited to be a part of ASU Prep's 3rd and 4th grade team!

Besides teaching, I have coached both cheer and dance teams.  I have lead Ballroom Dance club and assisted in plays and musicals.  I have been a girl scout leader for 7 years and have worked with pre-schoolers through high schoolers in different volunteer positions around the community.

When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family!  We love to hang out together, whether going to movies, playing card and board games, hiking, running, bike rides and anything that gets us outside- especially in fall, winter and spring time! We love to volunteer, especially at Feed My Starving Children where we can volunteer as a family.  I love all things Disney, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Legos. I am an avid reader and especially love to curl up with a great children's chapter book and a coffee!

I'm excited to meet you and be a part of you and your child's educational journey here at ASU Prep!

Disney Family

We love Disneyland and all things Disney and Pixar! Walt Disney is one of my role models because of his creativity, ingenuity and drive to succeed, despite setbacks he faced along the way!
